Merton Council move forward with the redevelopment of Jan Malinowski centre
Merton Council has been working with Wandle Housing to redevelop the Jan Malinowski Centre – a brand new and fully equipped centre – designed with the help of people who use the service as well as interested stakeholders from the learning disability community in Merton. As part of this work, a development of 21 Supported Living units will be built for people with a learning disability. This is great news as the outcomes for people living in supported living are so much better with also an improved quality of life.
We will also build over 60 general needs housing units available for social rent on the remainder of the site. This will make a significant contribution to the Council’s plan to build new homes in the borough. By December 2025 we will be ready to close the existing centre ready for construction work to start in January 2026.
