Another successful cost of living support event takes place in Mitcham, Siobhain hosts advice surgery
We know that the cost of living is a top priority for our residents. That’s why this winter, we’re continuing to provide essential support to residents through our £3 million Cost of Living fund, alongside cutting the council tax bills of 10,000 households across the borough.
We recently also held our latest cost of living event in Mitcham Library, which was well attended. These events provide free advice and support on their finances, including bills, debt, and benefits, as well as energy saving and advice - every household that attends also receives a £10 supermarket voucher.
Additionally, all seven of our Libraries are open as ‘warm spaces’ this Winter.
Residents do not need to book; they can simply turn up at any of our libraries or the dozens of other designated Merton Warm Spaces and use the space through the colder months. Across these spaces there are hundreds of free events planned every month, with something for everyone – whether it’s family-friendly film screenings, musical jam sessions, history talks or book clubs. There is also a range of support available, including information on services like debt advice, help with benefits, energy saving, and assistance getting online for those who may need extra support.
