Save our shops on Grand Drive

Lower Morden

As your local Labour councillors, we know the importance of community and that local shops are the building blocks of our community here in Lower Morden. We also know that many residents were outraged when they heard of the proposal to demolish Grand Drive shops — so were we. That is why, as your Labour Action Team, we acted immediately with your concerns at the forefront of our discussions. We liaised with the shop keepers who were at risk of shutting down and losing their livelihoods, and we came to you to gather signatures for our petition to ‘Save Grand Drive Business.’ Your voice was heard loud and clear — let’s fight to save Grand Drive businesses. The petition received over 1000 signatures, and we were able to present it to Labour-run Merton Council in the fight against the loss of our shops. As your local Labour Action Team, we will continue this fight and make the case for our High Street shops.
