Kids swim free, funded by Merton Labour Council
Our fabulous Labour-run Merton Council has announced that it will make swimming at certain times for kids free following a trial in summer 2023. This means that swimming sessions at Merton’s leisure centres will cost nothing for the Borough’s under 16 year-olds throughout the year.
Leader of Merton Council and Longthornton Councillor Ross Garrod said: “We want to create more opportunities for people to get active in our borough, but we know that the cost of living crisis is a barrier to many in Merton. That’s why we took this decision to come up with the cash and make kids swim free sessions permanent in Merton.
“It’s all part of our bid to create a fitter healthier Merton and become London’s Borough of Sport.”
These free sessions are funded by Merton Council, as part of becoming the ‘Borough of Sport’. Book in advance, on the website, via the app or at the leisure centre.
